Workout Tunes & Christmas Grooves

Happy Thursday, all!  To get us all a little closer to Friday, I wanted to share some of my favorite music these days.  First, what I’m listening to while I run…

If you’re on Spotify, all you have to do is link up through Facebook and you’ll be able to follow this playlist and listen to it whenever you like from your own phone.  It’s simply listed as “Fall Run”, and it’s about an hour long.  I also listened to this during the Turkey Trot the other week.

Here are the songs:

1.  Shark Attack- Grouplove
2.  Home- Dotan
3.  Recover- CHVRCHES
4.  Latch- Disclosure
5.  Animals- Maroon 5
6.  Beggin For Thread- Banks
7.  A Place With No Name- Michael Jackson
8.  Chains- Nick Jonas
9.  Centuries- Fall Out Boy
10.  #icanteven- The Neighbourhood
11.  Feel Right- Mark Ronson
12.  See the Light- Matrimony
13.  Crazy Bird- Wild Child
14.  I Bet My Life- Imagine Dragon
15.  Blame- Calvin Harris
16.  Break Free- Ariana Grande

When it comes to working out, I could honestly listen to pretty much anything.  It does however, depend on what I’m doing.  If it’s a circuit work, I prefer upbeat, fast-paced music.  If I’m running distances, while I could listen to that, I also prefer to mix it up and listen to music with a slower tempo.  We all appreciate music for different reasons, in terms of running I prefer music when I can hear a story rather than just a fun beat.  Now, not all of these songs on the playlist fall into that category, but most do.  Being able to “hear” a story serves as a great distraction for me, allowing me to operate on cruise control {and crank out longer distances}.  Although they’re not on this playlist at all {ironically} one of my favorite’s to listen to while running is Mumford & Sons.

Now on to the even better stuff.  The older I get, the more and more I focus on Christmas once it comes around {the result of slowly reaching the quarter life crisis stage and respecting a deeper understanding of the idea that time is fleeting…real, uh…surface type stuff}.  I still show Turkey Day respect, and don’t break out anything Christmas until the Friday after Thanksgiving.  However, the best way to get in the Christmas spirit, besides decorating and watching both corny and classic holiday movies, is fill the room with Christmas music!  As I’ve mentioned in the past, I have Sirius XM in my car, so every morning I listen to the station, Holly {channel 17}.  It kind of lessens the one hour commute and 8AM blow of work, and puts me in a better mood for the day.  This, however, is hands down, my favorite Christmas album of all time.  The Edge of Christmas.

I’m not sure where my parents found this album, but every year we’ve listened to it while decorating the tree and opening presents on Christmas morning.  I know I love it because I’m full of bias and have a variety of emotional ties to it, but I’m sure you’ll love it too!

On Spotify, I’m currently digging the Folksy Christmas playlist {pictured below}.  Simply go the the “Holiday” section under “Browse” and you’ll find it there.

Now lunch is over, so time to finish out my work day!

What is some of your favorite music to listen to this time of year?  {Christmas and workout}
