High Five Weekend {August 15}

High Five it’s….

the end of the weekend.

What a week this has been, so I’m taking a quick little sec to slip this in at the end {or beginning} of the week…literally.  There’s still a lot to highlight and be thankful for, and just because it’s not Friday doesn’t mean we can’t talk about it!

Let’s dive in, shall we?

Ipsy Delivery

Rounded out the week with another Ipsy delivery, and can’t complain.  I’ve been a customer of everything from Popsugar to Ipsy, and while I love receiving something every month, I’m starting to get a little cluttered with samples of everything under the sun.  Dare I say it, I might cancel {or at least suspend} my subscription until I can get my stash under control {I know my Dad will be glad to read that…”just another monthly charge you don’t need”}.  Maybe he’s right.  Either way, I will miss my monthly Ipsy arrival.

Brother’s B-day

HBD, Ryan.  Part of my Friday night consisted of whipping up this guy’s birthday cake…

The notorious beer cake.  It’s actually insanely easy to create.  Growing up we always spent birthdays together, but the past 6 years or so have been a different story because of school and living in different cities.  It has been so nice to be able to spend Ryan’s birthday with him {23 today…whaaaaaat}.  He had a few friends in town to celebrate, so I’ll recap on that later.

Sirius XM Concerts

One additional feature that I love about my car, Ellie the Elantra, is her Sirius XM subscription.  Any time of day, any mood, you’ll be able to find something on the radio.  Like when Alt Nation played Lollapalooza for the entire weekend?  Yes, it’s awesome.  I’ve always loved Bruce Springsteen, something that my dad can take credit for.  Recently, I’ve been finding myself listening to E Street Radio on my way home from work, especially when they play previous concerts.  Thursday night I caught the end of a Fenway {best baseball stadium on the planet *ehm*} ’12 concert, right as he started playing classics like Thunder Road, Glory Days, Born to Run, and Dancing in the Dark.  Jimmy and Andrew were lucky enough to see him live in Charlotte a few months ago {before I lived here}.  I’m not sure if I’ll ever get to see him in concert, but for now the live concerts at night with the windows down will do!

Dry Shampoo

When it comes to the world of dry shampoo, this is all you’ll ever need.  I first bought it when my other friend Liz O. recommended it to me when I visited her in Pittsburgh.  You can find it at Sephora and it beats any spray that you’ll ever think of paying money for.  Oscar Blandi, you fox, thanks for keeping me non-greasy from the gym to work and everything in between.

Training Day

Great movie, duh.  But I’m not referring to the Denzel Washington/Ethan Hawke blockbuster.  On Thursday afternoon I was informed that I needed to attend a training class on Friday for another market that my company sells to.  This meant that I needed to be at work from 9-6 on Friday rather than my normal 1-10pm schedule.  Although it was unexpected it was welcome with open arms, a change of pace for a day, a Friday evening off, and I suppose it’s a good sign if I’m already learning new markets two months into the job.  I still had to work all day Saturday, with plans to hang out with Ryan and his friends later that night, so I didn’t get into anything too crazy.  Just odds and ends of things, plus a beautiful 4 miler through the greenway system.

Really can’t complain these days.  Now off to start another week!

What are you guys thankful for?
